Donate

We will gratefully accept your donations. The things you donate will benefit your neighborhood and neighboring communities. By reusing and recycling locally, you're giving families in need a chance to put great items to good use.

Donors are encouraged to review the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalls and announcements before donating. Items that have been recalled cannot be donated to Love in Action Community Development Corporation.

Donations can be made by contacting Love In Action CDC to schedule both pick-up and drop-off dates and times. Please contact 480-382-1068 or info@loveinactioncdc.com and ask for a donations specialist.

Items We Cannot Accept

As much as we would like to we cannot accept or use all donations. If an item is not in good condition, the costs of handling, repairing or disposal pulls funds that would otherwise support our families in need. Management reserves the right to refuse any donation. Items we cannot accept including but not limited to:

  • Large household appliances. Stoves, refrigerators, washers, dryers, water heaters. LIA CDC use these items in the stores and there are strict ordinances concerning their disposal.
  • Electrical/mechanical items that do not work. TVs, microwave ovens, copy machines. LIA CDC cannot repair these items.
  • Building materials. Carpet, shutters, doors, windows, toilets, lumber, concrete, bricks, stones. LIA CDC only sells these items in its outlet stores and disposal is costly and highly restricted.
  • Encyclopedias. These items are not saleable in our stores and cannot be recycled.
  • Mattresses and box springs. LIA CDC does not sell household units in the stores due to state laws requiring them to be sanitized. Commercial sanitized sets are sold in LIA CDC stores when available.
  • Upholstered couches and chairs which are torn, soiled or otherwise damaged. LIA CDC does not repair or clean items and can only offer clean, usable items for sale in the stores.
  • CRT televisions (including CRT computer monitors). Recycling is costly and burdensome and reduces funds that would otherwise be used to support LIA CDC’s workforce development programs.
  • Automobile parts. Tires, wheels, batteries, seats, body parts and engines. LIA CDC only sells these items in its outlet stores and disposal is costly and highly restricted.
  • Paint and chemicals of any kind. LIA CDC is not allowed to sell or dispose of these items in a landfill.
  • Kerosene and gas heaters and appliances. LIA CDC is not licensed to handle or sell items of this kind and disposal is expensive and highly restricted.
  • CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) frequently recalled items. Infant furniture, car seats, exercise equipment, baby cribs, strollers, carriages, playpens/play yards, children’s items containing lead or phthalates.

Note regarding furniture: Love In Action CDC will accept usable furniture that can be distributed to our families in need. Also, if there is a family in need of your large household appliance that has been found to be safe and in good working condition we will help facilitate transfer of this item.

These lists are to be used as guidelines. There may be other items not listed that we can use in the stores or which must be turned down due to size, condition or suitability. Feel free to contact a Love In Action CDC Donation Specialist at 480-382-1068 or info@loveinactioncdc.com
